Shrewsbury Athletic Club athletes produced outstanding performances at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. One month after competing in the London Marathon, Paul Jones was back in action in the Marathon, storming to 8th place in a field of 7665 runners in a time of 2/33/50, resulting in victory in the Veteran Over 45 category. Sara Willhoit moved up from recent half marathon races to finish 10th Lady in a Club record time of 3/03/19 in her first ever marathon. Rob Fox produced a personal best time in the Half Marathon, finishing 51st in 1/18/01.

 

In other races, Rob Fox finished 7th and 3rd Veteran Over 40 in the Mynydd Myfyr Hill Race in 24/17, Haydn Jones was 13th and 1st Veteran Over 55 in the Gregynog Trail Race in 34/57, Andy Birch was 27th in the Derby Half Marathon in 1/22/52 and Richard McKenna was 8th in 38/09 and Glen Speake 21st in 40/42 in the Abersoch 10K. Kevin Francis continued his campaign in the Veteran Over 50 category in the North Staffordshire Road Runners' Association series, finishing 13th and 2nd Veteran Over 50 in the Westbridge 5 Mile Race in Stone in a time of 30/11 and so currently leading in the category for the Series. Chris Wakeman finished 71st and 2nd Veteran Over 60 in 35/41.

 

In the Midland Masters' Athletics Championships at Nuneaton, there were successes for Pat Higgins, who won the Lady Veteran Over 60 Category in the Shot Put with 6.58m, Javelin with 14.36m and Hammer with 24.53m and Andy Lewis, who won the Male Veteran Over 60 category in the 800m with 2/49/07 and 1500m with 5/33/34.
