A strong squad of Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners competed successfully in the Midland 12 Stage Relays at Sutton Park, Birmingham, finishing 15th out of 56 teams and qualifying for the National 12 Stage Relays later this month. The relay comprised the first four legs of 5.4 miles each and the last eight legs of 3.1 miles each and the squad times were Matt Hall 27/39, Jim Hickinbottom 28/58, Richard Mckenna 29/27, Robert Fox 30/35, Jake Milovsorov 18/10, Nick Bradley 17/57, Gabe Morris 16/41, Graham Jones 19/57, Richard Jones 20/34, Matt Wooden 19/21, Steve Waters 18/26, Pete Savill 21/07. The total time of 4/28/52 was a 12 minute and 12 place improvement on last year's performance.

 

A new Club record was set by Sara Willhoit in the Wilmslow Half Marathon, finishing 3rd Lady in 1/18/09, with Club colleague Paul Jones 5th and 3rd Veteran Over 45 in 1/13/54. Elsewhere on the road running scene, Nick Bradley finished 5th in the Ironbridge Half Marathon in 1/20/45, the day after competing in the Sutton Park Relays, with Calvin Hignett 34th in a personal best time of 1/27/57 and Charlie Rogers finished 23rd in the Cheshire 10K in a personal best time of 33/40, with Pete Hughes 121st in 39/13. Lauren Morley finished 5th and 1st Lady in the Myddle 6 Mile Multi Terrain Race in 44/55.

 

On the fell running scene, the final fixture of the Shropshire Winter Hill Series took place with the staging of the Wrekin Fell Race, with Scott Hall finishing 8th in 42/16 and Stuart Proctor 27th and 4th Veteran Over 50 in 48/49.
