Shrewsbury Athletic Club's Jamie Lambie's outstanding season continued with victory in the Ludlow 10K Race, storming to a new course record of 34/42 and in the Vic Musgrove 5K Race in the Telford Sexarathon Series finishing 5th, his highest placing in the Series so far and a personal best time for the distance. In the Vic Musgrove Race, there were other personal best times for Ollie Parry, Jake Milovsorov and Stewart Farley and age category victories for Kevin Francis, 1st Veteran Over 50, Haydn Jones, 1st Veteran Over 55 and Pete Savill, 1st Veteran Over 65. With one fixture to go, Club runners are riding high in the Series, with Jamie Lambie currently 4th overall, Ollie Parry, Carl Aveyard and Stewart Farley 2nd, 3rd and 4th Veteran Over 35, Kevin Francis 1st Veteran Over 50, Haydn Jones 2nd Veteran Over 55, Chris Wakeman 2nd Veteran Over 60 and Pete Savill 1st Veteran Over 65. In the Ludlow 10K Race, Will Preston finished 11th in 38/25 and Jemma Brown 42nd and 4th Lady in 46/27.

In other road races, Paul Jones finished 2nd and 1st Veteran Over 45in the Dolgellau 5 Mile Race in 27/32, Pete Hughes was 57th in the Manchester 10K in 39/33,Colin Perry was 79th in the Leamington Spa Half Marathon in 1/30/47 and Club newcomer Antonio Gasparinho finished 41st in the Helena Tipping 10K in Wrexham in 37/49 in his first race in Club colours.

 

On the fell running scene, Will Preston finished 16th in the Stiperstones Fell Race in 33/02, with Stuart Proctor 22nd in 34/48 and Daphne Jones 49th and 1st Under 17 Girl in 40/12. In the Callow Fell Race, Stuart Proctor finished 7th and 3rd Veteran Over 50 in 1/10/53 and Kevin Francis 10th and 4th Veteran Over 50 in 1/14/42.

 

Six of the Club's young athletes represented Shropshire at the English Schools Athletic Association Track and Field Championships at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. Brad Davies-Pughe won bronze in the Intermediate Boys Long Jump with a leap of 6.79m and Iris Downes, Chloe Speake, Laura Hulme, Rebecca Walker and Kati Hulme also represented the County. In the Midland Track and Field League Meeting at Nuneaton, Gabe Morris finished 4th in the Mens' 400m in 56.4 and 3rd in the 800m in 2/05.3, while Andy Lewis finished 6th in the 1500m in a season's best time of 5/38.2 as he aims for 5/30 for the World Transplant Games. For the Women, Rebecca Walker won the High Jump with 1.60m, while Pat Higgins had a trio of 4th placings in the Shot with 5.75m, Hammer with 19.64m and Javelin with 13.37m.
