Shrewsbury Athletic Club was represented in the Half Marathon Race of the unique Trail Marathon Wales, an arduous but spectacular course through the stunning trails and tracks of the world-renowned Coed y Brenin Forest in Snowdonia National Park, with the Club's versatile veteran Graham Jones winning the Veteran Over 60 crown for the third successive year and first home for the Club in 33rd place in 1/49/04, Graham Parton 129th in 2/08/57, Chris Hedley 186th in 2/16/54 and Duncan Rose 228th in 2/22/09.

 

Club athletes competed in the latest fixtures in the Telford Sexarathon and Shropshire Summer Hill Series races. In the Ironbridge 4 Mile Race, Matt Hall kept up his consistent form in the Series, finishing 4th in 21/46, with Pete Savill 79th and 1st Veteran Over 65 in 28/36, Simon Cole 96th in 29/41 in his first race for the Club and Gill Evans 142nd and 1st Lady Veteran Over 55 in 32/06, leading her age category in the Series with two races to go.

 

In the Pontesbury Fell Race, the 5th fixture in the Shropshire Summer Hill Series, Alan Dean finished 26th and 4th Veteran Over 40 in 25/43, Jo Dean 59th and 1st Lady Veteran Over 40 in 28/52 and Gill Evans 93rd and 1st Lady Veteran Over 55 in 32/31, maintaining her Series lead in that age category.

 

In other events, Dan Elliot put in an impressive performance in the Shifnal Half Marathon, finishing 4th in 1/25/29 and in the North Staffordshire Road Runners' Association Series, Kevin Francis maintained his challenge in the Veteran Over 50 category, finishing 32nd in the Stone St Michaels 10K race in 37/15 and 2nd Veteran Over 50, with Stewart Farley 56th in 39/17.
