Shrewsbury Athletic Club's World Transplant Games Gold Medalist, Andy Lewis was in action in the Derwentwater Trail Run 10K Race in the Lake District, part of the Lakeland Trails Series, finishing 31st and 1st Veteran Over 60 in 50/35 and Scott Hall finished 3rd and 2nd Senior Man in the Bury Ditches Hill Race in 41/15, with Gill Evans 35th, 4th Woman and 1st Female Veteran Over 50 in 56/36.

 

On the track and field scene, the Club's junior athletes produced some impressive individual and team performances when they competed in the first fixture of the Shropshire Young Athletes Cross Country League at Lilleshall. The Under 13 Girls team finished 1st in their age category and comprised Bethany Trow 6/32, Lucy Newall 6/50,Savannah Hughes 7/44 and Katie Jones 8/26, the Under 13 Boys Team finished 1st equal and comprised Jack Kinrade 9/59, Adam Bentham 10/29, Freddie Allwood 10/57 and Zach Mckenna 11/04 and the Under 11 Girls Team finished 2nd and comprised Chloe Stuart 6/55, Ava Homer 6/56, Maisie Bennett 7/32 and Harlow Hughes 8/00. Individual podium places went to Joe Gilling 1st Under 17 Boys, Bethany Trow 1st Under 13 Girls and Adam Edwards 3rd Under 15 Boys.

 

The Club was well represented in both track and field events at the recent Telford Games, with Club athletes producing no fewer than nineteen personal best and six season's best performances and the following podium places: GOLD: Ianto Closs Under 13 Boys 100m 13.57 and 200m 27.28(PB), Raphael Carsen Under 13 Boys Long Jump 4.32m and High Jump 1.35m(PB), Joe Gilling Under 17 Boys 3000m 9/42.12(PB), Louis Schofield Under 17 Boys High Jump 1.75m(PB), Gabe Morris Over 35 Men 400m 55.49(PB), Chloe Speake Under 15 Girls 75m Hurdles 12.05, Rebecca Walker Under 17 Girls High Jump 1.55m, Kati Hulme Under 20 Womens High Jump 1.50m(SB) and Long Jump 4.76m(PB), Pat Higgins Over 60 Womens Shot Putt 6.70m, Hammer Throw 24.14m and Javelin 14.98m(SB). SILVER: Jack Kinrade Under 13 Boys 800m 2/16.67, Jude Lins Under 15 Boys 1500m 4/40.81 , Louis Schofield Under 17 Boys Long Jump 5.91m, Bridget Williams Under 13 Girls 200m 28.73(PB), Madeleine Aiston Under 15 Girls 100m 13.23, Rachael Hemingway-Deaney Under 17 Girls Triple Jump 9.69m(PB). BRONZE: Tom Gough-Tilley Under 13 Boys 75m Hurdles 16.09, Reuben Green Under 13 Boys 100m 14.12, William Sadler Under 15 Boys Triple Jump 10.17(PB), Tyler Mansell Under 17 Boys 100m 12.42.

 

Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners were out in force in the recent Shrewsbury Half Marathon, with four finishers in the top twenty, three personal best times and four age category podium places. Led home by Jamie Lambie in 4th place, the other top twenty finishers were Calvin Hignett 6th, Antonio Gasparinho 12th and Tom Richards 14th. Age category places went to Jamie Lambie 3rd Senior Man and Pete Middleton 2nd Male Over 35. In the Womens' Race Lauren Morley finished 6th and 2nd Female Over 30, Jemma Brown was 7th and 1st Female Over 35 and Emily McBride 297th.

In other road races, Paul Jones finished 1st Veteran Over 45 in 50th place in the Cardiff Half Marathon in 1/13/43, with Richard Mckenna 76th in a personal best time of 1/16/00, Tom Richards finished 9th in the Abersoch Half Marathon in 1/24/34 and in the Wem 10K, Calvin Hignett finished 5th in a personal best time of 36/26, achieving two personal bests in consecutive weekends, Lauren Morley was 22nd and 1st Woman in a personal best time of 41/34 and Pete Hughes was 44th in 43/58.
