Having qualified at the Midlands 6 stage relays at Sutton Park, Birmingham, the same team of Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners competed in the National 6 Stage relays at the same venue, achieving 65th place in a time of 2/00/08, a minute faster than their time in the Midlands event, the team comprising James Hickinbottom, 19/33, Luke Butler 20/16, Gabe Morris 20/04, Adam Roberts 20/20, Brett Edwards 19/42 and Matt Hall 20/13.
The Shropshire Winter Fell Race Series opened with the Breiddens Hill Race, with Scott Hall storming to 2nd place in 1/00/26 and successes for Kevin Francis, 3rd Veteran Over 50, Sean Hickey 3rd Veteran Over 40 and Gill Evans 1st Lady Veteran Over 55.
Two Club runners competed in the Cardiff Half Marathon, both achieving personal best times around the predominantly flat and fast course and finishing in the top 100 in the field of almost 17,000 runners, Luke Butler finishing 81st in 1/17/39 and Adam Roberts 96th in 1/18/23.
Successes further afield included Pete Middleton finishing in 7th place in the Loch Ness Marathon, Scotland's biggest Marathon with 2500 finishers, in 2/43/25 and Club newcomer Zoe Barber 1st Woman in the Powis Arms Bury Ditches Hill Race, finishing 7th overall in 45/16.
The Club's Ultra distance runner, Michael Betts' latest conquest has been to finish 9th in the Skyrunner 3 x 3000 80K Ultra Race, a course of some 13000 feet of ascent along single track trails and mountain terrain, incorporating the three classic Lakeland peaks of Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and Skiddaw.
