National Road Relays 2023

National Road Relays - Sutton Park - 3.88k.
On Saturday 7th October the Club took five junior teams to the National Road Relays and it’s fair to say all the kids were incredible. Some of them competed in their first ever events and to do it at the road relay nationals against the best in the nation proves they are made of real tough stuff. We were all thrilled with how they all competed today and even though there would have been lots of sweat and tears at the end for some of them, they were all amazing.
First up were the U13 boys and girls.
Oscar lead off team A with Harry running the second leg and Charlie bringing us home to finish in 14th. Yes we came 14th in the nation and two of our runners in this team were lower years and will be in the same age group next year…Wow!
Lucas headed off Team B and ran a blinder passing on to Jake who then also ran a great leg. Hats off to these two as this is not their optimum distance and they ran amazing legs. Amazing stuff guys.
Our U13 girls were led off by Libby and then Megan and on to Emma-Jayne. These three girls are very consistent and very good and once again they all smashed it and brought us home in 38th place. Amazing stuff girls!
Our U15 boys team were next off with Charlie starting us off against athletes that looked in their 20s. He stormed around and set Josh on for the second leg and he ran another strong run. Sam ran out last leg and finished very well and very quick up the hill. Well done guys on finishing 65th.
Last up was our U15 girls team. Poppy who is one of our very good 300m runners stepped up in distance and ran a great leg. She handed over to Liv who also ran a great leg before Elsa finished it off for us in style to finish in 53rd. Great running girls.
Below are some of the photos from the event. We do have more, but I was unable to get permissions from parents for some of the runners, so I’ll chase this up and post them at a later date.
Our club should be so proud of these absolute superstars!
