Jordan Adams
Jordan and his brother Cian featured several times on BBC television and radio in September 2024 during and after their incredible 31 day run from John O’Groats to Lands’ End, a distance of around 900 miles. Known as “The FTD Brothers”www.theftdbrothers.com both have inherited a rare faulty gene from their mum, meaning that, like her, they will develop Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) in their 40’s. Jordan is currently 29 and Cian 24. Since discovering this news, they have dedicated their lives to raising £1 million for dementia research and took a big step towards that in 2024, raising just over £300K.
Jordan is a truly inspiring, gifted and engaging public speaker and will tell his family’s story as well as the incredible story of his own fundraising journey which not only involved running the entire length of the UK but also completing 7 marathons in 7 days in 2023 and running 100 miles in 24 hours in July last year. Needless to say, he has more challenges planned for 2025!
Jordan will reveal how he has approached his own enormous personal challenge and used it in a positive way, leaving him determined to make a difference and leave a lasting legacy - a lesson for many of us facing the challenges that life inevitably presents from time to time.
Scott Mitchell
Scott is the husband of the late Dame Barbara Windsor, most well known to many as Peggy, the landlady of the Queen Vic in BBC’s Eastenders. Scott is an Ambassador for Alzheimer’s Research UK and a tireless campaigner who was heavily involved in establishing the UK Government’s “Dame Barbara Windsor Dementia Goals Programme”, for which he was appointed the “People’s Champion”.
Scott’s experience of caring for Barbara as she succumbed to Alzheimer's Disease has driven him to continue the important fight to have patients’ and carers’ voices heard. His and Barbara’s decision to go public with news of her illness also had a massive impact on the general perception of dementia and has definitely helped to remove the stigma which this disease can still carry. Scott’s and Barbara’s story is an inspiration and a shining example of people faced with some of the biggest challenges turning their situation into a force for good.
We hope that you can join us, as we bring these two remarkable people together to share their story with you for what promises to be a memorable and inspiring evening.
