Following Jamie’s excellent write up for the juniors , I thought it only fair to summarise how the seniors got on at the county champs today. With almost a clean sweep across the main categories it was a really successful day for the club.
Senior women - Madeline Williams continued her excellent run of form and took the senior women’s win by almost a minute from Sophie Hurst in second place , with Libby Hart coming in for and excellent third place. There was a tight race for the winner of the vets category (V40+) between Helen Stokes and Jan Cook, Helen just getting the better of Jan in the closing straight to take the trophy.
Both the senior team and vets team trophies went to SAC - Senior team of Madeline Williams, Libby Hart and Eleanor Pitcher and Vets team – Helen Stokes, Jan Cook, and Jemma Brown.
Good to see so many SAC female athletes taking part and putting in some strong performances (apart from those mentioned above) Eleanor Pitcher 5th, Florence Roberts 8th, Helen Stokes 9th(V40 Winner) Jan Cook 10th (V 50 Winner), Jemma Brown 18th , Hannah Pease 21st and Kelly Williams in 33rd
In the Senior men’s race Dan Elliot secured an excellent 2nd place behind Matt Collins of Oswestry Olympians. An excellent result for Dan proving his recent top 5 finish at the North Wales XC league race was no fluke. Just missing out on bronze was Paul Jones in 4th but was easily good enough for him to take the vets win.
Again both the Senior and Vets Team wins went to SAC. Senior Team of Dan Elliot, Paul Jones, Tom Hancock, Joe Leahy, Dan Newman and James Stuart winning by over 7 mins to Telford and the vets team of Paul Jones, James Stuart and Gabe Morris again taking a convincing win over Telford.
As with the women it was great to see so many of the senior men out and taking part. Apart from Dan and Paul some excellent results with Tom Hancock 8th, Joe Leahy 9th (U20 winner) Dan Newman 10th, James Stuart 13th, Gabe Morris 14th (V40 Winner) Rob Weston 16th, Harry Woodhouse 17th, Paul Aston 18th, Rob Kerr 20th, Andrew Price 26th, Rich Breakwell 27th (V35 Winner) Paul Bowes 31st(V55 winner), Ben Cocker 35th , Mark Smith 46th.
Well done everyone, hopefully the good results will continue in the next North Wales league meeting on the 11th Jan.
