Shrewsbury Athletic Club had another successful day at the Shropshire County Cross Country Championships at Attingham Park on Saturday. The Club's top guns were out in force, resulting in 2nd place for the Mens' team of Brett Edwards, James Hickinbottom, Pete Middleton, Matt Hall, Gabe Morris and Steve Waters and 2nd place for the Womens' team of Sara Willhoit, Olivia Mann, Jacqueline Macey, Melissa Mann, Joanne Dean and Gill Evans. Both teams were, however, 1st in their respective Senior Men and Senior Women categories. Brett Edwards was 1st Senior Man and James Hickinbottom 3rd. Sara Willhoit was 2nd Senior Woman and twin sisters Olivia and Melissa Mann were 2nd and 3rd Junior Women. The Club Juniors had two 3rd places in the Under 13 and Under 15 Girls' team events and Iris Downes excelled with 3rd place in the Under 13 Girls' Race.
Not appearing in the results is Charlie Rogers, the talented new recruit who was taken ill near the end of the men's race in his first outing for the Club. We are very relieved to know that he is receiving the very best treatment and recovering well and we look forward to seeing him competing in the Club vest once he is fully recovered and fit again.

The fourth fixture in the Shropshire Winter Fell Race Series took place with the staging of the Corndon Classic Race, with the side led home by Scott Hall in 7th place and Gabe Morris in 10th place. There were successes for Haydn Jones, 1st Veteran Over 55 and Gill Evans 1st Lady Veteran Over 55 and Zoe Barber finished 3rd in the Womens' Race.

The recent spate of personal best times for Club runners continued in the Wheaton Aston 10K, with three further best times for Gabe Morris 6th in 34/32, Matt Guilder 9th in 35/32 and Connor Middleton 13th in 37/03. Pete Butler finished 127th in 45/57 and was 2nd Veteran Over 60. The festive period brought 12th place for Connor Middleton in the Turkey Trot 5 Mile Race in 29/50 and
four Club runners rose early on New Year's Day to compete in the Morning After Race in Church Stretton, with Kevin Francis 19th in 36/09, Andy Lewis 64th in 42/54, Haydn Jones 68th in 43/29 and Gordon Trevor 166th in 63/18.
