A busy weekend of road races saw Shrewsbury Athletic Club athletes competing in the Shrewsbury 10K, Stafford Half Marathon and Ironbridge Half Marathon. In the second staging of the Shrewsbury 10K, which saw a significant increase in competitors compared to last year, Neil O'Hanlon was first home for the Club in 5th place, with colleagues Matt Guilder 14th and Connor Middleton 16th and 1st Junior Male. Lucy Grayston was 1st Junior Female and Haydn Jones 3rd Veteran Over 55.In the Stafford Half Marathon, James Hickinbottom lead the squad home in 9th place, with Luke Butler 15th and Pete Savill 2nd Veteran Over 60. In the Ironbridge Half Marathon, Connor Middleton was 19th in 1/24/44 and Alan Dean 51st in 1/31/48.

On the cross country scene, four Club runners were chosen to represent Shropshire, in a team of eight at the Intercounties Cross Country Championships at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough, with Matt Hall timed at 44/37, James Hickinbottom 44/56, Pete Middleton 45/52 and Luke Butler 46/58. The Club Juniors were well represented, with Iris Downes 134th in the Under 13 Girls' Race, Darcia Connacher 290th in the Under 15 Girls' Race, Lydia Carter 182nd in the Under 17 Womens' Race and the Mann twins capping of a great cross country season, with Olivia 69th and Melissa 96th in the Under 20 Womens' Race.
On the fell running scene, the final two races took place in the Shropshire Winter Fell Race Series. Scott Hall lead the side home at the Carding Mill Canter Race in 9th place in 46/31, with Gabe Morris 14th in 47/58, Andy Lewis 81st in 64/28 and Gill Evans 88th and 2nd Lady Veteran Over 55 in 65/23. At the Wrekin Fell Race, Scott Hall once again spearheaded the squad in 6th place in 42/42, with Darren Mitchelmore 27th in 50/30 and Gill Evans 76th and 1st Lady Veteran Over 55 in 62/31.
Two Club runners took part in the Wrexham Marathon Festival, with Pete Hughes 44th in the Half Marathon in 1/42/04 and Mike Thomas 161st in the 20 Mile Race in 3/09/06. Chris Wakeman took the Veteran Over 55 crown in the Knype Pool 5 Mile multi terrain race in Staffordshire, finishing 26th in 36/48.
There was success at the British Masters Indoor Track and Field and Winter Throws Championships at Lee Valley Athletics Centre, London, for Pat Higgins in the Womens' Over 60 Category, achieving Gold in the Hammer with a throw of 26.80m and Silver in the Weight Throw with a personal best distance of 10.40m.
