The past week has seen an excellent turnout from Shrewsbury AC’s Senior runners on both the roads and fells.
Wednesday 16th June saw a good turnout from the club at the Pontesbury Fell race. Stuart Smith continued his strong start to life with the club, finishing 5th overall with a time of 21:40. Also new to the club, Daphne Jones won the Female Under 23 Category in 31:28. Rounding out the SAC results, there were strong category performances from Duncan Jones, finishing 5th Male in the Vet 50s, and Andy Lewis, finishing 4th Male in the Vet 60s.
Following this, on Sunday 20th June a large contingent of SAC runners travelled to Knutsford to compete at the Colshall Hall 10k. The club were led home by Oliver Parry, running a pb of 34:02 to land a place in the top 10 and finish 8th overall. He was closely followed by Jake Milovsorov and Connor Middleton in 34:27 and 34:52 respectively. There were also strong performances from Jonathan Bucke (36:14), Thomas Richards (36:57) and Ben Sulley (37:05). Antonio Gasparinho ran 37:35 to finish 4th in the Male Vet 40 Category, and Paul Bowes ran 38:50 for 6th in the Male Vet 50 Category. For 8 runners to run within 40 minutes is a great result, speaking to the strength in depth in the club.
Special mention goes to father-and-son duo Peter and Luke Butler, running together on Fathers Day. Both club stalwarts, it’s not long since Luke had to make a vital life saving intervention while they were running together. It’s fantastic to see them both out running together.
