Another milestone was reached in Shrewsbury Athletic Club's cross country achievements when a record 22 men and 4 women runners turned out for the first North Wales Cross Country League race at Mold on Saturday. The mens' team swept to victory in the team event, with the elite team of six, comprising Brett Edwards, James Hickinbottom, Matt Hall, Ben Ashcroft, Gabe Morris and Adam Roberts all finishing in the first 14 places. Club turnouts continue to be bolstered by new arrivals, with strong performances by Olly Parry and Stewart Farley in their first outings for the Club and a welcome return by Ben Ashcroft, back in Shropshire on leave.
The womens' team made a solid start to the season with second place in Division 2 and were led home in 13th place in 22/08 by Under 20 runner and track specialist Olivia Mann, adapting impressively to the cross country environment in her debut North Wales race, chased all the way by club colleague Lauren Morley, 14th in 22/19, with Jacqueline Macey 20th in 23/10 and Gill Evans 47th in 25/20.
