Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners made it three double victories in a row when the Club hosted the fourth fixture of the North Wales Cross Country League at Walford College, Baschurch on Saturday.
The Womens' team, already riding high at the top of Division 2, were further bolstered by the appearance of Zoe Barber, who stormed to 2nd place in her first cross country outing for the Club, with Sara Willhoit 3rd and Olivia Mann 7th to complete the team scorers. Once again the Division 2 side finished with a points tally better than the winners of Division 1 and with their lead increased at the top of the Division, the team look certain to gain promotion to Division 1 with one fixture remaining. Olivia Mann was 1st Lady Under 20.
The Mens' team swept to victory once again, led home by Brett Edwards in his highest placing of the season in 3rd place, with James Hickinbottom 7th , Pete Middleton, one of a number of runners making a welcome return to the cross country squad, in 11th place, Gabe Morris and Simon Adney 12th and 15th, and Steve Waters in his highest placing of the season in 16th place completing the team scorers. Connor Middleton narrowly missed out on the team scorers, in 17th place, having improved by around 50 places since the start of the season. The Mens' team also increased their lead at the head of Division 1 in this penultimate fixture. The Male Masters' Team was 3rd on the day and 3rd in the Series and Club Captain Graham Jones was 1st Veteran Over 60, despite recovering from a heavy cold.
