The final event in the Telford Sexarathon Series took place with the staging of the Harper Scarper 5K at Newport. Gabe Morris saved his best performance for last, with a personal best 6th place, consolidating his 2nd place overall in the Senior Men Category for the Series. Pete Savill finished in 59th place, winning the Veteran Over 60 category for the third successive season and for the first time, category winner in every race. Gabe Morris was 4th Senior Man for the Series and Kevin Francis 5th Veteran Over 45 for the Series.
Results: 6 Gabe Morris 16.43, 13 Luke Butler 17.17, 21 Connor Middleton 17.48, 25 Matt Guilder 18.07, 30 Matt Hall 18.22, 45 Kevin Francis 19.11, 59 Pete Savill 20.02(1st Veteran Over 60).
In the Ellesmere 10k, Luke Butler was first SAC runner home in 15th place with a new PB of 35.59. He was followed home by Scott Hall who impressed on his debut 10k in 18th place with a time of 36.18. Tom Roo was 49th in 38.59, 52th Alan Dean in 39.16, 54th Grant Lloyd in 39.16, 60th Haydn Jones in 39.50 and Pete Savill was 3rd MV60 in 41.40.
In the Ragleth Inn Race, last event in the Shropshire Summer Fell Race Series, Harry Duffy finished 24th in 35.21 and 2nd in the Male Under 18 category and Gill Evans finished 77th in 45.40 and 2nd in the Lady Veteran Over 50 category.
The Offa’s Dyke 15 Mile Race has been staged for the first time in 14 years, a challenging course through the idillic countryside between Hay on Wye and Kington, with Steve Turk finishing 22nd in 2.05.45 and 5th Veteran Over 45 and Gill Evans 80th in 2.25.37 and 4th Lady Veteran Over 45.
Attention now turns to the forthcoming North Wales Cross Country season, with the first fixture taking place at Bangor on Saturday 3rd October.
