A strong contingent of Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners turned out for the third fixture of the North Wales Cross Country League at Mold. Undaunted by some of the worst conditions of wind and rain in recent years, the squad overcame the muddy conditions to finish third team on the day, maintaining their lead in the Series with two races to go. They were lead home by Gabe Morris in 8th place, with Adam Roberts 15th, James Hickinbottom and Luke Butler once again in close contention in 19th and 20th places and club stalwarts Graham Jones and Kevin Francis 31st and 33rd to complete the team scorers. Matt Hall just missed out on the scoring six, finishing in 36th place, a huge improvement on his result at the previous fixture.
The Masters' team were 4th on the day and 3rd in the Series after three events and there were successes on the day for club captain Graham Jones 1st Veteran Over 55, Richard Jones 3rd Veteran Over 50 and Pete Savill 2nd Veteran Over 60. Next race in the Series will be the crucial home fixture at Walford College on Saturday January 16th.

The Womens' team was significantly strengthened by the appearance of Jacqueline Macey who finished 27th in 29.55 in her debut cross country for the Club, with Anne Byrne 101st in 47.54 and 2nd Lady Veteran Over 60 and Sheila Richards 102nd in 48.13 and 3rd Lady Veteran Over 60. The team placed 7th out of 14 teams on the day in Division 2.
On the fell running scene, the Shropshire Winter Fell Series continued with the Wrekin Wrecker and Cardington Cracker races. Gabe Morris continued his impressive form with 3rd place at the Wrekin and 12th place at Cardington, with Anna Bartlett 2nd Lady Veteran Over 40 at the Wrekin and Gill Evans 2nd Lady Veteran Over 50 at both events.

In the Bridgnorth 10K, there was double success with James Hickinbottom 6th in 37.44 and Jacqueline Macey 6th in the Womens' race in 46.32.
