There was a strong turnout of Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners for the London Marathon, with the eleven Club participants producing some fine individual performances, despite the race being the hottest London Marathon on record, led home by Paul Jones in 2:41.39, with Luke Butler 2:53.42, Robert Fox 3:10.56, Grant Lloyd 3:15.43, Keith Austin, a personal best time of 3:28.36, Jon Ashcroft 3:41.30, Haydn Jones 3:48.56, Pete Butler 3:58.16, Alan Dean 4:4.51, Jo Dean 4:11.30 and Stewart Farley 4:31.21.

A combination of Club runners' commitments to the London Marathon, coupled with a current spate of running injuries, resulted in just two runners representing the Club in the Lilleshall 5 Mile Race, the opening fixture of the Telford Sexarathon Road Race Series. Both achieved successes, with Matt Hall finishing 5th in 27.26, his highest ever placing in the Series and Gill Evans finishing 1st Lady Veteran Over 55 in 39.52.

Six Club runners each achieved individual successes when they competed in the Chocoholics 5K Race in Newtown, with Steve Waters leading the squad in 3rd place, Richard Jones 1st Veteran Over 55, Sara Willhoit 2nd Lady, Haydn Jones 2nd Veteran Over 55, Jess Gunner 3rd Lady and 1st Lady Under 20 and Grace Hough 2nd Lady Veteran Over 65.

Results: 3 Steve Waters 17.27, 13 Richard Jones 19.29, 14 Sara Willhoit 19.29, 16 Haydn Jones 19.37, 17 Jess Gunner 19.42, 121 Grace Hough 36.37.

Club veteran Kevin Francis has been competing in the North Staffordshire Road Runners' Association Series, finishing 23rd in the Air Products 10K Race in Crewe, in 37.50 and 1st Veteran Over 50 and 28th in the Newcastle 10K Race in 38.44 and 2nd Veteran Over 50. In the Air Products Race, he was joined by Stewart Farley, who finished 31st in a personal best time of 38.18 and Chris Wakeman, who finished 90th in 42.33 and 2nd Veteran Over 55.

In other races, Pete Middleton finished 2nd in the Draycote Water 10K Race in Warwickshire in 36.20 and Andy Lewis finished 40th and 1st Veteran Over 60 in the Chasewater Easter Egg 10K Race in Staffordshire in 44.51. There were two Club runners among the 9000 runners in the Greater Manchester Marathon, with Connor Middleton finishing in 3:19.59 and Graham Jones 5th Veteran Over 60 in 3:20.08.
