Shrewsbury sent a top team of runners to road relays at Sutton Park on 23rd March and each and everyone of them performed well.
The ladies team of Lauren Cooper, Naomi Cook, Jemma Brown, Jan Cook, Kate Evason and Miriam Jones-Walters were flirting around the top 10 throughout each leg and finished in 11th. Great performance ladies!
There was drama before the men’s race with an unfortunate late pull out due to last minute work commitments (I know that feeling), meaning El Capitan Luke Butler had to throw out the distress flare which was answered by Connor.
The team came a very respectful 11th with first leg runner Liam Rawlings running a great leg to put the team in 5th. Some amazing following legs from Dan Husbands, Matt Costello, Jim Hickinbottom, James Durman, Connor Middleton, Luke Butler, Rob Fox, Michael Betts, Carl Aveyard, Robert Weston and Tom Brown ensured our best ever finishing position.
The team have certainly earned their post race fruit shoots
Perhaps performance of the day ( I’m not biased I promise) goes to Oscar Adams who on a very hilly course came 4th in the U13 boys 5k in 18:14. He was 1st home out of the lower year U13s and is gradually returning to full fitness after a setback in February. Well done Oscar!
The photo is Liam and Oscar who are two of three SAC athletes to have achieved a podium finish at a British Cross Challenge Event. The only podium finisher missing from this photo is Roni Kohring ( do we have any more podium finishes from the cross challenge that I don’t know about?)
Amazing running everybody.
