Sunday 22nd August saw a fantastic turnout from Shrewsbury AC’s athletes at the hometown Shrewsbury 10k. In total 27 runners from the club took to the course, proudly displaying the club colours from the front of the pack. On a beautiful day for running the athletes took to a tough course that started and finished in the Quarry park, taking in climbs of the Mount and the Porthill and a circuit of the Shrewsbury School grounds.

The club were led home by Paul Jones and Sara Willhoit, who finished 2nd Male and 2nd Female respectively with impressive times of 33:00 and 35:52. Jim Hickinbottom rounded out the Male podium, finishing 3rd in 33:44. There were also Category wins for Monika Oparka-Hickinbottom as the first F40 in 40:08, Gill Evans at the first F60 in 44:08 and Haydn Jones as the first M60 in 39:29.

Thanks to the race organisers and volunteers for putting on a great event and for the crowds who lined the streets of Shrewsbury, creating a fine atmosphere from start to finish.
