Shrewsbury Athletic Club athlete Jack Kinrade has used the lockdown of 2020 to his advantage. Despite no races and restricted access to facilities he has achieved the No 1 ranking for 800metres for under 15 athletes.
Jack has been focussing on middle distance over the last couple of years training consistently despite only being able to race once in 2020.
Since competition resumed in2021 he has competed 3 times,
In the Spring Special Open meeting at Nuneaton on 1st May he ran 2:02:92 minutes for 800 metres topping the rankings for under 15 boys in the UK this year taking 9 seconds of his previous best.
He raced again at Birmingham University on 12th May and achieved an even better result of 2:00:81 min, edging ever closer to the magic 2 minutes mark and retaining his no 1 ranking in the UK.
Jack trains at Shrewsbury School and runs for Shrewsbury Athletic Club. He is concentrating on 800m and 1500m for the summer season.
