Membership Information
The club is able to consider membership applications from those aged 9yrs (if in school year 5) and above, there is no upper age limit. There is likely to be a waiting list for the younger age groups.
Memberships and Fees
New Juniors (i.e. those aged under 20 on 31st December). Demand for Junior membership is high and there is a waiting list for many age groups. The wait can be several months.
To get your name on the waiting list, please use the Request Information form on the right of this page, select New Members Enquiries (Junior athletes) and ask to put your name on the waiting list.
You will be contacted in due course about a starting date.
You can use this link to see the membership categories and fees. But please don't complete a membership application form until invited to from the waiting list, as your application will be rejected.
New Senior members (i.e. those aged 20yrs and over on 31st December) should use this link and select Seniors Trial membership option. You will be able to attend two sessions (no charge) before needing to join the club.
Athlete’s medical information
The online membership system will record medical and allergy information. New members should complete this when they apply. Current members or their parents should notify the club of any changes to their medical information during membership renewal. In the meantime you can do this using the Athlete medical info
The club provides training, coaching and competition in Track & Field and cross-country events. Regardless of abilities and experience, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn is key.
Training sessions are held on Monday and Wednesdays throughout the year. See the Training and Venues page for more information. All our coaches (see Coach details) have experience coaching young athletes and most are fully qualified and DBS checked.
The Club Welfare Officer is responsible for ensuring that our child protection policy is implemented. Use the Request Information form to the right of this page to let the Welfare Officer know of any concerns.
To help develop our junior section, we would be delighted to hear from any parents, relatives or family friends who are keen to get more involved. We particularly welcome any interests in coaching, officiating at matches, or simply lending a hand on training nights. Use the enquiry form to get in touch with the Club Secretary if you would like to help.

Joining the junior section of Shrewsbury Athletic Club is an important step in a young person’s athletic career.
Shrewsbury Athletic Club is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for children and young people to practice athletics.
We will do this by:
1. Recognising that all children and young people have the right to freedom from abuse.
2. Ensuring that all our staff and volunteers are carefully selected and accept responsibility for helping to prevent the abuse of children in their care.
3. Responding swiftly and appropriately to all suspicions and allegations of abuse, providing parents and children with the opportunity to voice any concern they may have.
4. Appointing a Welfare Officer who will take specific responsibility for child safety and act as the main point of contact for parents, children and outside agencies.
5. Ensuring access to confidential information is restricted to the Welfare Officer or appropriate external authorities.
Disability Athletics
The Club welcomes applications from athletes with a disability. Classification is an integral part of athletics for disabled athletes which enables fair competition amongst all competitors. Once an athlete has a national classification they will be issued with a British Athletics Card confirming the classification group(s). Competition for Transplant Athletes
Anyone who has had a major organ transplant is eligible to compete as a Transplant athlete. For more information use this link to Transplant Sport UK.
Where does your membership fee get spent?
Transport to and from most meetings/races, venue hire, track fees, affiliation fees, administration fees and insurance to name a few things!
