Despite Shrewsbury Athletic Club's resources being concentrated on the staging of their record breaking Mad Jack's Race, a strong squad of runners were able to compete on the same day in the third fixture of the North Wales Cross Country League at Wrexham, not only finishing 1st team on the day, but also extending their lead at the top of Division 1 to 93 points. Matt Hall made it two victories in three races, breaking away after a closely fought race to finish 1st, with James Hickinbottom 9th and 2nd Veteran Over 35, Steve Waters 12th, Hassan Mohammed 15th and 2nd Male Under 20, Rob Fox 16th and 3rd Veteran Over 35 and Scott Hall 24th, completing the team scorers. The penultimate fixture of the Series takes place at Northrop on Saturday 12th January 2019.

Matt Hall produced his highest placing in the North Staffordshire Cross Country League when the Club competed in the third fixture at Park Hall Country Park, Stoke, finishing 3rd, followed by team scorers Steve Waters 23rd, Rob Fox 25th, Connor Middleton 29th, Kevin Francis 52nd and Dan Elliot 56th and team scorer in his first North Staffordshire race for the Club. Matt Wooden finished 111th, Richard Jones 137th and Pete Savill 180th. The team maintained their 3rd place in the Series with one race to go at Penkridge on Saturday 15th December. Grace Hough finished 211th in the Womens' Race, while, in the Junior Races, Bethany Trow was an impressive winner in the Under 11 Girls' Race and Jack Kinrade finished 7th in the Under 13 Boys' Race.


The Club's young athletes competed in the third fixture of the Shropshire Young Athletes Cross Country League at a tough course at Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, achieving both individual and team successes. There were individual podium placings for Bethany Trow 1st Under 11 Girls, Adam Bentham 2nd Under 11 Boys, Lucy Newall 2nd Under 13 Girls, Adam Edwards 2nd Under 13 Boys, Jack Kinrade 3rd Under 13 Boys, Iris Downes 3rd Under 15 Girls and Jess Gunner 2nd Under 17 Girls. The Under 11 Girls, Under 11 Boys and Under 13 Girls teams were 1st and Under 13 Boys team 3rd. Lucy Newall, Olivia Clarke, Amelie Owen, Adam Edwards, Jack Kinrade and Finlay Bevan Wood have all been selected to represent the County at Under 13 level as a result of their performances in School Cross Countries and the Shropshire Young Athletes League. The final fixture takes place at Much Wenlock on Sunday 2nd December.
