The final event in the Telford Sexarathon Series has taken place, with the staging of the Harper Scarper 5K Race at Newport, where James Hickinbottom capped off his most successful Sexarathon season with a personal best time and his highest placing of 6th place. Next, Gabe Morris edged out Matt Hall on this occasion, the pair finishing in 8th and 9th place, making it honours even over the six races between the two club colleagues. Steve Waters produced a personal best time in 18th place, proving that he is finally back in form after a long term injury. Sara Willhoit maintained her position in the Series, finishing 3rd in the Womens' Race and 1st Senior Lady, with Jacqueline Macey, 1st Lady Over 35. Series results were James Hickinbottom 5th Male(3rd Senior Man), Matt Hall 6th equal Male(4th Senior Man), Gabe Morris 8th Male(5th Senior Man), Matt Guilder 11th Male(7th Senior Man). Pete Savill had to settle for 3rd Veteran Over 60 for the Series, when injury prevented him from competing at Newport. In the Womens' Series Sara Willhoit was 3rd Lady overall and 1st Senior Lady and Jacqueline Macey 2nd Lady Over 35.

 

In the Ragleth Inn Race, last event in the Shropshire Summer Fell Race Series, the versatile duo of Gabe Morris and Matt Hall were in action again, with 9th and 12th placings, with club captain Graham Jones 2nd Veteran Over 60, Harry Duffy 2nd Male Under 18 and Gill Evans 1st Lady Over 55.

 

Club runners were busy competing in a variety of summer events in and around the County, Pete Middleton finishing 2nd in the Shakespeare Half Marathon in 1/16/58, Matt Hall 7th in the multi terrain Dave Clarke 5K in Trentham in a personal best time of 16/44, Steve Waters, 45th in the Mid Cheshire 5K, just one second off his personal best in 17/31, Richard Jones 329th in a windswept Race the Train race at Tywyn in 2/03/06 and Lauren Morley, 34th in the Womens' Race at the Sale Sizzler 5K in a personal best time of 20/24. James Hickinbottom produced another personal best time in the Helena Tipping Wrexham 10K in 6th place, while Pete Middleton finished 4th in the Ellesmere 10K.

 

Attention now turns to the forthcoming North Wales Cross Country season, with the first fixture taking place at Mold on Saturday 15th October.
