More than 400 athletes took part in the Shropshire Track & Field County Championships at Telford Stadium on 13th and 18th May where 13 new championship-best performances and National Grade 1 displays were achieved. Amongst them were outstanding performances by Shrewsbury AC athletes.
Four club athletes placed 1st in their events with Championship Best Performances: Kitty Scholes-Pryce and Chloe Speake (1st = U13 girls 70m hurdles with 11.6secs), Pat Higgins (Veteran Woman, shot putt 8.34m and discus 14.02m), and Stephen Buttler (Veteran Male, long jump 5.23m).
Other athletes who won their events were U13 Girls Chloe Speake (100m), Stephanie Walker (long jump), U15 Girls Isabella Jagielka (100m) and Rebecca Walker (high jump), U17 Women Dora Tomlinson (80m hurdles and high jump), Kati Hulme (300m hurdles) and Bethan Evans (trople jump and shot putt), Senior Women, Emily McBride (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, high jump), Veteran Women, Pat Higgins (javelin, hammer).
The club's male athletes were not to be outdone and achieved a good number of 1st place finishes. U11 boys, Reuben Green (60m, 150m), Jack Kinrade (600m), U15 boys, Joshua Richards ( 100m), Louis Schofield (long jump), U17 Men Jake Akindutire (400m hurdles, high jump, long jump), Senior Men, Patrick McBride (110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, shot, discus), Matt Hall (3000m).
